


Drumming Class: Drums Alive!
Drumming Class through the Drums Alive! curriculum is for ages 8 and up and range anywhere from 10-15 students in a class. Classes are 1 hour long and the cost is $375 for the semester.

Being in an ensemble offers many benefits including self-expression, cognitive development, opportunities for socialization, self-discipline, lower stress levels, and studies show that students of the arts continue to outperform their non-arts peers in academia. The list is endless!

Drumming promotes:

Better communication better with their fellow students
-
Understand and demonstrate the value and techniques of cooperative teamwork.

Demonstrate techniques on drums and other percussion equipment.

Sing songs with percussion and other instruments from various multicultural traditions.

Improvise new drumming ensemble patterns which are complementary to those played by other students.

Move to music while singing or playing instruments.
-
Listen actively and critically to various styles of music which include percussion. While listening, students will:

echo drum patterns played by others

identify the type of instruments being played

recognize and label styles of music
-
identify the probable culture from which the music comes.
