Staff: Kelsey Simpkins- Music Production/Technology, Piano, Voice, Theatre

Kelsey is a musician, educator, and audio engineer originally from Point Pleasant, WV. Currently, she is a music teacher for Lee County Schools and a member of FMEA and FEMEA. Kelsey is a graduate of Bellarmine University with Bachelor's degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Technology with a concentration in piano and jazz bass. There she studied mixing and mastering, soundtrack music, and electronic synthesis for sound design. She’s also done master classes across the country with different musicians like Craig Harris, for jazz studies, and Brad Ritchie for soundtrack composition and production.

Kelsey has done production work for multiple local bands, podcasts, and content creators as a freelancer. She began her professional music production career at iHeartRadio, working multiple music festivals such as Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY and Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach, SC. Kelsey has been teaching since 2021, starting with voice lessons and music technology lessons. Since then, she’s expanded to multiple instruments, ensembles, and specific disciplines in music technology. Currently, she teaches general music education, choir, and music technology for public schools on top of private lessons.

Deep down, Kelsey will always be a music nerd. She’ll always be seeking new knowledge, and the easiest way to stay involved is to learn from others, whether through listening or teaching. Kelsey wants to be able to instill that passion for creating and performing in students by giving them a safe and fun environment that helps them expand on their own interests. That way, we can all be the musicians we’ve always wanted to be.
