Service Description

Upper Elementary Music is an engaging and skill-building class where students deepen their understanding of music through singing, movement, instrument playing, and music literacy. Grounded in the Kodály method, the curriculum follows a sequential approach that builds musical skills in a fun and accessible way. Students will sing a rich variety of folk songs and cultural music to develop pitch accuracy, vocal technique, and musical memory. Using solfège syllables (do, re, mi, etc.) and rhythm syllables (ta, ti-ti, etc.), students learn to read, write, and perform music with increasing independence. They’ll also explore elements of music theory such as meter, form, and musical notation. Creative movement, body percussion, and classroom instruments like xylophones, recorders (grade-appropriate), and drums provide hands-on opportunities to apply what they're learning. Activities are designed to encourage musical expression, listening, teamwork, and self-confidence. Performances or informal classroom showcases may be included to celebrate students’ progress and musical achievements. Anyone paying using the Step-Up for Students Scholarship, please use the code "stepup" in the coupon code section.

ATTENDANCE Any class a student cannot attend requires 24 hours notice to Dynamic Education. If a student is ill and cannot attend, please notify us by 8:00 AM the day of the class as a courtesy to the teacher. Failure to do so will result in the student not being able to participate in classes again in the future. The last 3 weeks of classes attendance is required! We prep for performances and if the students are not present, they are not there to rehearse. Due to the structure of classes, missed classes with proper notice cannot be rescheduled, as they are only offered at a specific day and time every week. If classes are missed, there are no make-up opportunities or refunds. TARDINESS Students should arrive 5-10 minutes prior to their scheduled class time. Classes are back to back with little time for transitions. If you are running late to the scheduled class, an email or text message needs to be sent to the teacher. Any missed minutes WILL NOT be made up. (For example: if you are 10 minutes late to a 60 minute class, the class will be 50 minutes long) TEACHER MISSED CLASSES If the instructor needs to miss a class due to a performance or self/family illness, or other family related situation, Dynamic Education will credit payment from that class toward another class in the future. VISITORS AT CLASSES (not for infant/toddler music) For the safety of students and others, parents are not permitted to stay in the classroom while class is in session. Parents can sit in the lobby during their child’s class or they may leave and run errands for the hour. High School students with a valid license may drive themselves to their classes, with parent permission. DISCONTINUATION If the student and parent/guardian desire to discontinue music classes, the student will receive classes through the end of the paid session. At the end of the session, classes will discontinue. No refund will be given for classes which were already paid for. We reserve the right to discontinue classes, at any point, due to inappropriate, disrespectful, or violent behavior. CANCELLATIONS Cancellation of attending a class session can occur 24 hours before the scheduled first class session. A full refund will be given. No refunds will be given after class sessions have started.
